A Betrayal of Self

what have you wrought
and taken away?
a vengeful torrent of lies
the writhing perceptions of misery
as bitter tears fall from disillusioned eyes
never ending agony
do you realize what you have done to me?
childlike awe replaced by despair
reaching for you desperately
disheartend to find no one there
innocence of youth
replaced by reprehension
uncaring eyes, vanished desires
love consumed , a love rebuked
trapped within this darkness
of my own creation
I begin to weep

This is deep, a broken heart is never easy to mend. You captured your mood well.
I think you have a spelling mistake tho, first line "wrought" do you mean brought?

    best of luck

Thank you for reading and for the kind words. Wrought means to put together or create. For instance, I could say....The woman had a carefully wrought plan in place to leave her abusive boyfriend. Thanks again for commenting!

I do love my coffee! Take away my cigarettes, I'm fine. I'll gladly give away my Coke Zero. Try to snatch my coffee and you may just wind up with some broken fingers!

oh this emotional rollercoaster, the pain of having your innocent warped and taken away. You don't have to become bitter. You can fight the aging process and remain blind like a child your whole life. hahaha.. well that's what I'm doing. Becaue it's so easy. This poem brought out a lot of my own feelings of pain, and emotions from being betrayed. The illusion being lifted is too much to bear.

    "childlike awe replaced by despair"

So sad when another person does that to someone.

Betrayal, indeed. So bitter and hopeless. You captured it well. Loved the idea of 'disillusioned eyes'. Usually how it goes, huh? Cheers to the write and best wishes.
