When the world ends,
whenever it may be -
2012 or 2020,
I care not where I'll be
or what I'll be doing.
I care only, that if I'm
still alive, that I be
found in the place
and duty that God
wants of me.
The end may come
for me quite suddenly
and earlier than 2012.
Whatever will be,
will be.
So I don't care about
the world's ending;
that's not my job
nor my concern -
I pray to be:
Where and when God wants me to be.
whenever it may be -
2012 or 2020,
I care not where I'll be
or what I'll be doing.
I care only, that if I'm
still alive, that I be
found in the place
and duty that God
wants of me.
The end may come
for me quite suddenly
and earlier than 2012.
Whatever will be,
will be.
So I don't care about
the world's ending;
that's not my job
nor my concern -
I pray to be:
Where and when God wants me to be.
Author notes
W/E - People have been predicting the end of the world on various dates since the middle ages, if not earlier. They were always wrong. Whatever will be, will be.

Interesting. I watched a show on prophecy history and he described how Catholic spiritualization of the scripture that solidified with St augustine led to a detachment from the importance of prophecy. Jesus' disciples asked about what the end would be like, and he answered them. Matt 24, I think. the passages describing current events in the bible codes often contain the phrases "IN the last days"

thank you for a message of devotion, faith and surrender in response to this prompt ... these are wise words that invite to here and now, the only refuge from our own fearful projections ...
a precious contribution to our contest, that shall inspire many ...

Just read ravi Zacharias' "The great weaver" that talks about God's convergences weaving our lives together and teaching us truth.
-
The words you speak here fall to the page with such truth, especially these lines "Where and when God wants me to be." As long as one has faith in something there's comfort in that thought. If the world ends we are powerless to stop it so it's just better to have faith. Great job.

The Complete Truth.

Very, very true and unfortunate. We also underestimate the power that God has...We just assume that "everything's gonna be alright." But then, turns out a complete disaster! We should all keep in mind that life is a very important, yet risky thing. You explained that very nicely! Great job and good luck!

Very true *nods* (No emoticon for that, though ^^')
You're right, they've been making too much theories of "The End of the World" thing and it's just plain silly but hey, maybe they needed a hobby or something 0.o
Anyway, I love what you stand for here and the last line: wow, great impact to the reader, indeed
All in all, good luck in the contest; this write's just remarkable ~ -
well done my friend,
your sweetness and devotion shines through
God bless...

I love the way you weave in hints of personal with themes more universal, as in "...for me quite suddenly and earlier than 2012" Some say God has a plan for all of us, but I sometimes wonder.
