I rummage through files
Wishing I'd bothered to arrange alphabetically
Searching with the knowledge
'Twas thrown into the trash bin.
Black fingerprints mark the whitewashed door
Carvings of hearts
And "Suzie loves Bobby"
Decorate the flaking walls.
The sign states our name--
Or, it did, before the dust
Decided to make its appearance
Cloaking stained metal
That reads: "Mental Department."
Wishing I'd bothered to arrange alphabetically
Searching with the knowledge
'Twas thrown into the trash bin.
Black fingerprints mark the whitewashed door
Carvings of hearts
And "Suzie loves Bobby"
Decorate the flaking walls.
The sign states our name--
Or, it did, before the dust
Decided to make its appearance
Cloaking stained metal
That reads: "Mental Department."
