As I huddled in the doorway
hungry and cold,
Trying to pray,
but almost forgetting how
A hand touched my shivering shoulder.
I looked into the smiling eyes
of a kindly stranger
who took me by the elbow,
guided me to safe, warm refuge.
Served me warm sustenance,
drew me a tepid bath,
provided me with soft, comfortable clothing,
and led me to a shelter of protection for rest.
The only words spoken
were from the heart.
The LOVE exchanged
was from GOD.
