Drum Beat

Our hearts beat
together as one
In unison
To the beat of one drum

From the bear with its might
To the eagle of the air
The strong flowing of the river
The beat is everywhere

It pounds in the chest
Strong and willing
Loyal to family
and so forgiving

But here in the night
As the moon does raise
This is when we come together
To sing our praise

All the creatures
borne of Earth Mother
Will join in celebration
Brother to brother

To rejoice
to dance to prance and sing
Of the glory of Mother Earth
Such wonderous things

The deer will graze
While the stags will bellow
Wolves will howl to the moon
The solid yellow

The birds will fly an chrip their sing
All animals will join rejoice ring

We celebrate the gift of life
We celebrate Earth Mother
In differences and diversities
We celebrate eachother

So all is not forgotten
All songs yet sung
For in our hearts we all beat
To one drum

Author notes

I had a lot to say and not enough time to type them all properly...I hope it still seems appealing to those reading though

This is beautiful winged wolf, and what a lovely thought that all hearts beat to the same drum, indeed they do I just wish that everyone appreciated that fact. Well done and good luck in the contest. Val

    WingedWolf77,

what glourious words of unity you share. Yes the link that bonds us all in spirit, rather we be man, animal etc.. enables us to praise as one.
Within creation, we may truely find unity with all surrounding us. Our enviroment need not be an alien place to us, for it was meant to be our home, while we are here.
What is exciting, is that rather for praise or what the cause, we can find unity and peace as brothers or sisters in spirit. Something this world is sorely in need of
It is Spirit that enables us to know that such thoughts are not illusions off pipe dreams, but a reality to be grasped by us and our children.
Truely the one drumbeat we all march to is the Great Spirit, for He pervades us all with his nature.

    Niaish for sharing

    Silent Hawk

    I agree with bramble, it's very powerful. The repetition of the drum imagery really helped. My favorite stanza was this one;

    "All the creatures
    borne of Earth Mother
    Will join in celebration
    Brother to brother"

I have one suggestion though. It seemed that the different stanzas could have fit together a little bit better. The rythym was different for each one. But that didn't really hurt, it was really good!

In unicine - I think you meant unison.
There is much power in the poem. It felt as though it welled up from inside and just came pouring out. I enjoyed this. ~Bramble
