Sweetness is my weakness
I know that is true.
And when I don't have
A honey-man in my life like you.
I resort to sugar
It tastes oh so good.
I try to stay away from it
I wish that I would.
But something comes over me
Like lust, like desire.
And I over indulge myself
of it, I don't tire.
And speaking of tires,
I develop a spare one,
And an extra,"everything else"
before I am done.
I seem to get a grip
then the passion comes back.
Resistance?, Forget it
Self-control, I lack.
But when I had my honey-man
to hug and to kiss
I didn't need chocolate,
my man was pure bliss.
He looked like caramel
Had a nice candy-cane
and with that combination
I'd go temporarily insane.
His lips were like cherries,
juicy and ripe
He was walking nectar
He was really my type.
After a while
truth is always revealed
That is one thing
No one can conceal.
You find out Mr. It
Oh, he really Ain't.
And what you thought he could do
Oh no, He really cain't.
All that confection
was just saccharine, you know
or Splenda, or Equal
all fake, that's Fo" Sho'.
That's why I went back
to the real thing, My Weakness, true.
But I'd give it up again
for a "Sugah Shaka", like you.
Author notes
I know this is somewhat humorous, but sometimes we have to laugh to keep from crying. Sugar addiction is as real as any other. Also replacing one thing for another is very real. This is a very true write.

I know this addiction along with several others. It seems I have set the "sugar" compulsions aside for now. Instead, I traded for "shopping". Not a good habit for someone who is already broke. Although, I won't fully claim being "broke". LOL Great poetry Conni.
Much Love ♥
