Innocent Lily

-
Somewhere - and take my word as true,
It must be true -
Somewhere there is a plush bed of grass
Between two trees.

There is never a footfall to crush
Even a blade of grass,
Or ever a visitor to blush
To see the naked pass,
Or ever an echo to murmur in the breeze.

And there is a lily, white as moon -
Sweet as June -
That grows in the verdant bed of grass
Between the trees.
