to kill, its talons on a branch
alert for prey, flies away
Author notes
Author's Note: This a modern (or American) 17 Word Haiku.
Silence means many things -- my greatest and most profound silences are always from the forest in which I live! Silence is also something unheard -- like a tree falling when no one is there to hear it, isn't it? Silence can mean many things! I love the silence of our owls in the mountains, you can sometimes see them before you ever can hear them flying! It seems that only after hunting or in search of a mate do you hear thier calls!

Very good nature haiku, with the owl waiting and looking. Good ending in L3, thank you so much!

Wow, this is rather interesting. Imagery, metaphor... you don't really see metaphors in haiku's (i got told off for it
I see no problem!)
I love it ^^
Very nice
Keep it up!
