her thoughts unpretentious
tinted with memories
that creep
stealthily
and filled with smell
of toothpaste within tube
opened and squashed
by fingers
that once shared;
sadness becomes sorrow
longing salt
and memories grief
beyond taste
beyond memories …

Most interesting write
Oh beyond memories like old marble statues often chipped and greyed yet forever there for the muse for those who takes the time to return

So Poignant!
I feel as if these words came from my own heart! This makes me want to cry.
From start to finish this has an amazing cohesiveness.
I can't believe how your life has sensitized your feminine side!
I love the whole of this but especially love how you sum this up:
sadness becomes sorrow
longing salt
and memories grief
beyond taste
beyond memories …
Yes, collective experiences can go way beyond memories & the inward salty tears go beyond taste! Bravo for this brilliance...
I'm giving you a virtual
for this. I'm sure your wife wont mind!

thanks for your sincere comments, and no, my wife will not mind. I am far from perfect, actually very human indeed - perhaps I just have a greater sensitivity for the burt of others. Be blessed. Frans

How Poignant!
Frans...this makes me want to cry!
Wow..I can feel this as if it came from my own heart. Beyond memories is right! There comes a time when the 'collective past' fills the mind & sadness becomes a taste beyond memory!
I just can't get over the depth of sensitivity you've developed through your life's journey!
There's such cohesiveness to this throughout & the way you end this is so sublime:
sadness becomes sorrow
longing salt
and memories grief
beyond taste
beyond memories …
Bravo my dear friend! I love the company we keep here! Here's a virtual kiss:
I know your wife won't mind!

Very Heartfelt Words!
The sadness of her poem was so profound. Losing one we love has long lasting emotions that surface in many ways. You hasve captured that emotion so beautifully in your poem. Bless you my friend.

I had just finished reading Myra's poem "Toothpaste" when I read this one. You must have felt the same sadness she did. It seems you've made this style of free verse your very own.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

I love reading a poem that gives me a new look on a familiar sight as in
"and filled with smell
of toothpaste within tube
opened and squashed
by fingers"
Nicely written. Peace, Liz

...bearing each other's sorrows and joy...

That is the saddest toothpaste tube ever. Filled with so much emotion, and loss, ... and memories. Very nice. ~Bramble
