Jogging

Though the weather travails in tempest ticks,
even if the heart is burdened to point of paralysis,
feet still run by memory's stride,
toes of the soul instinctively recalling better days.

We keep jogging with our minds, moment after moment,
steadfast by rote need of fulfillment,
not because anyone is watching, nor the accolades that some crave,
but because our lives only truly thrive from touching
what throbs the pulse of our quintessence,
feeling the thunder from doing one's best, regardless of what comes.

Trust in the horizon may waver,
our eyes unable to see its image clearly,
still the map inward, which took us to our present place
can be the fuel to flame the blood.

A true victor isn't always the first to cross the finish line.
It is the spirit, which never stops
holding onto the vision. no matter how long ago it came.

In the steps, by pace of vow,
following the torch lit that inspire the race and knowing along the way
belief will be the water bottle passed to us when least expected.
