What if there were no tomorrow
And time would just stand still
Would it give me the opportunity
To show you how I feel
Would it allow me once again
To feel the warmth of your embrace
Or see the loving looks
I had seen upon your face
Would it backfire on me once again
Just like it’s doing now
Leaving you to find yourself
And yet now I’ve lost myself
I knew what I had with you
I still cherish it in my heart
I pray you’ll come to realize
We shouldn’t be apart
It’s love like the love we shared
That gives our lives meaning
The courage to work past our pasts
And discover our new dreams
Filling our hearts with what we deserve
Is better than looking back
Building love and lives anew
Knowing our souls are intact
Moving on without looking back
For the past is where it lays
It broke our hearts once before
It’s just where it should stay
Out of sight, out of mind
No more of the “what if’s?”
Ending casualties of the heart
By saying
WE’RE more than worth it!
What did you think

Rhyme, Great.
Flow, Not so Great.
Message? Received loud and clear. I think it trips the most right in here somewhere...
Just like it’s doing now
Leaving you to find yourself
And yet now I’ve lost myself
I knew what I had with you
But still, a fabulous poem.

I really like those lines. They show that sometimes what we think we need isn't always the case. Great poem!!! -
EXCELLENT!
This is an excellently written piece. I love it from beginning to end. Apart is never the way that people in love should end up, and What Ifs should never have to be thought about--not even as an after thought.
Great work.
