True Faith never breaks...

I wrote this after watching the animated feature 'Prince of Egypt'. It depicted the slavery of the Israelites in the time of Moses.

Calloused fingers grip the stones.

Rippled muscles break the bones.

Axe is weighted, but aren't they all.

Rise again with every fall.

What hurts more, whip or death?

To end it faster or brave life's nets?

Would you live, endure, feel life's harms?

For love and joy you cannot miss.

Or would you choose Gods loving arms?

Those which we cannot say exist?

Author notes

The last 4 lines show their dwindling faith. Very few, let alone a whole nation can stay true to their religion when all they see and bear is slavery.
