Dawns' Mist

Missing image

Dawn’s Mist

The forest mist is dressed in white
and blankets me as if by lace.
Her magic ushers dawn's new light.

Transparent veils of crystallite
create a presence in this place.
The forest mist is dressed in white.

Diaphanous vapors, O so slight;
with gentle hands caress my face.
Her magic ushers dawn's new light.

The shadows scurry from my sight
and all this beauty I embrace.
The forest mist is dressed in white.

She danced upon the edge of night
and entered with majestic grace.
Her magic ushers dawn's new light.

The rising sun will soon shine bright
and she’ll retreat without a trace.
The forest mist is dressed in white;
her magic ushers dawn's new light.

In gentleness of heart; with gentle hand
Touch~for there is a spirit in the woods." Excerpt from Nutting - William Wordsworth

The rhyme scheme in this villanelle is simple, but effective. I have often read that you are the "Queen of Form Poetry" and although I think there are several others who share that title, your work never disappoints. Since "dawn" is not plural the apostrophe goes before the "s". Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

This is one I must have missed and I'm sorry for that, but I am so glad I found it. It is beautiful in every way, soft as a mist and just as enticing.

All the best in the contest

    Love

Quietly beautiful, I love the cinamatic quality of your words, for I can sit back and witness the imagery so beautifully wrought before my eyes.

    Beautiful...
Here, your lines draw one into the image
giving it meaning and soft light.
Personification is one of my most favorite
devices and here, you employ it with grace
and substance that is subtle and appealing.

Beautiful as usual. It amazes me still how you can create such beautiful work out of rhyming... I'm not able to rhyme, myself.

This poem has a comforting feeling about it... The rhyming actually makes it somewhat gentler over all.

Delicately crafted, Sis, with some nice touches throughout. Very atmospheric too.

The only thing I see as a weakness is line 4. It just seems to be a bit of a filler. Otherwise, there is much to admire and commend, and I can't refuse you a full line-up of bunnies.

It reads perfectly to me! most importantly, it captures the theme of there being a spirit in the woods. The wording is magical..

    Wonderful!

Atmospheric, gentle, and repetitive ... in the very style of Amera, Queen of Structured Poetry!

Loved the regal touch of this beautiful poem.

Ah, cool! I think you did an outstanding job presenting this interpretation of Wordsworth's work and the art work too ... And in a Villanelle! You're an amazing poetess!

Hope you had a beautiful weekend and your Monday was pleasant.

I'm not Villanelle fan, as you know, but this is delightful in wonderful meter and with totally charming content.
