Scarecrows stroking presumption's buttons,
phobia's caricatures tugging at paranoia's noose,
haunting with their gnawing eloquence,
spreading fear's incense..
Worry's phantoms clutching throat,
unsure if Santa Claus or Jack the Ripper
hides beneath facade,
question mark burning in the head
waiting for answer
always a murder mystery
with agony as butler.

You can really take your reader from one end of the spectrum to the other! 'unsure if Santa Claus or Jack the Ripper'
or are they one in the same
Well done! Good luck in the contest.

So aptly penned, scarecrows are best remembered as something scarry or on the other hand a friend to walk with Dorthy down the yellow brick road. Great images for such a short work. Well done, I wish you the best for the contest.
