I feel you slip unkindly from my hands;
I watch you well-known features morph and shift.
I shed a tear for all my well-made plans,
The choices now before me a cruel gift.
I always knew that this would one day come,
But still I let you sweep me off my feet.
I closed my eyes until my heart was numb;
Convinced myself that our love was concrete.
The tides of Time wore down your fickle heart,
You let your eyes and heart grow bored of me;
And I recall I saw this from the start,
He’s cut me loose, against my will I’m free.
Though you can try to stop time’s passage on
Each new day comes and with each comes its dawn.
Author notes
Time doesn't care who you are or what you've done. If you don't build something strong enough time will wash it away.

This is a fantastic poem. You have one small typo in the second line, should be "your". Thank you for entering the contest, good luck.

Wow. That's an awesome first poem [btw welcome]
And it's so true. Time heals, but time also hurts just the same. Awesome
