Memory Loss

Green Pastures ahead
and woods full of trees
The squawking of birds
And the humming of bees.

The honey that flows
and the rustle of leaves
The sound of a sigh
The woman that weaves.

The list could go
For many a page
Of the things you will miss
When gone for an age.

But the simple things
that we cherish the most
Will remain still the same
As gone as a ghost.

The pictures that hang
Up there on the wall
The memories in mind
That's shared none for all.

The things you forget
To say when your young
The songs in your head
Will remain yet unsung.

True love's first kiss
That was gone in a blink
That girl that you liked
Who laughed at your wink.

The hand that so slowly
Caresses your skin
That silky soft voice
That you melt within.

The smile that you love
The eyes that you need
The hair that you touch
That feeling of greed.

The times that you argued
The times that you loved
That time when you stole
All the memories ungloved.

The things you can't buy
The price tags aren't there
The photos and thoughts
That together we share.

So smile while you think
And though they'll be missed
Cherish the time with them now
Don't leave them dismissed.
