Tracing Teardrops

Sifting heartaches
each day,
you may search the meaning of
those small black pebbles
which once skipped across
the dark pond,
rippled the cold surface
and woke the dead leaf
from its shadowed slumber.

Lifting anguish
you may learn to pray,
and see your dreams rise
into some glowing breeze
of a season’s change
as stars which catch daylight
in a prismatic dance;
raindrop diamonds in the sky.

Shifting focus,
every fresh new day,
you may look for angels
amid each stranger's face
and smiles between sips of life
freshly brewed as grace
renewed; revealed
in every precious sunrise.

Drifting memories,
one day, will give way,
as your soul reaches out,
holds onto
the soft green branch
bent low, finds cleansing
from the clearing stream
which flows into
hope’s wide open ocean.

Gifting your life
with freedom’s promise,
your sorrowed song will transform,
become, for you, an anthem strong,
cascading down as waterfalls
as you slowly trace
each cleansing teardrop
one by one by one.

Author notes

this poem, I address to those
who have been so horribly wounded –
we find our desperate need for healing
from the painful memories of what was done,
where we learn to count each tear,
one by one by one.

Oh, Richard.... I have to keep this, for such is the healing effects of love cleansing one's heart.
To me, this is a prayer in the most meaningful way, and I'm grateful for the grace and beauty of tenderness reflected here. May you be blessed, too! ~Karen

    Beautifully Written!

Oh my! This absolutely spoke volumes to me, in a way that nothing else ever has. As a survivor of child abuse, your words are so uplifting and inspiring. Just beautiful and stunning words here! This brought tears, but good tears, as you say, one by one. I love this, and am deeply moved by your poem. Thanks so much for taking the time to enter my contest to offer some hope and encouragement for all who suffer. Blessings, Patty
