I Remember The Pains

A little old lady at home alone
Searching for her glasses
With vision impaired she searches on
As time slowly passes

A girl walking the street at night
Heading home from a day at work
She walks in haste but unaware
of the dangers that lurk

The little lady lifts a cushion
A 'dang' she cries aloud
She searches the house in places been
Until finally, they're found

The girl's eyes are weeping now
As another fist hits her jaw
The rape it still continues on
They call her a whore

The old lady sits in her chair
Knitting to kill the time
She thanks the lord and praises him
For her glasses she did find

The broken girl is left now
No power she has left to shout
The danger that lurked left her
With her insides hanging out

They thank God when they're happy
They thank God when things go right
They pray to God in sadness
They pray to God at night

For every 'miracle' performed
Every time we find our glasses
A pain as real exists somewhere
A God without the answers

They remember the little old lady
They remember the gains
I remember the girl broken
I remember the pains

Author notes

I was going to leave your competition be, but I couldn't resist. I disagree with the notion that God answers, and especially that "God always comes to help". Having lived the life I have, seen what I have, I cannot disagree more.

Where was God when my dad died? Where was god when my friends (plural) where raped? Where was god when the sister of a friend OD'd? Where was god when 3 of my friends committed suicide? Where was God in the pain and suffering of EVERYONE across the globe.

We're told 'it's a plan'. We're told to have faith. I always remember the quote: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". God's all powerful yet does nothing.

I don't know about the poem and I do not have the answer. If you have a problem with God, then go ask Him, surely He will answer. When Jacob wept for his son Joseph, so much that his eyes faded, Jacob never compained of it, though God revealed Joseph to Jacob finally. When David was ill-treated by his uncle, God answered and it was David who finally killed the Goliath and became a Hero. When Moses wept for the ill-treatments in the world, Moses never complained but God answered.

God has given certain rules and principles for both men and women to follow, when people betray God, then they never think about it, and they want an answer from God as per their will. You might have read the Ten Commandments how many people follow it? You do not follow Lord and expect your prayers to be granted always.

However, as far as I am concerned you are simply out of place to have such complaint entered in this contest. Lord will answer your complaint and you will realise, soon, very soon.

The reason I entered this contest was because I knew you'd get a million different entries on "God saved me from..." You are free to believe as you wish, but I felt like touching on the topic as well. I also knew I'd not stand a chance of winning, that was beside the point. All I was aiming to do was to get people to think a little.

My dear, this contest does not require the incidents when God saved, mind you it simply asks poets to write their Gratitude for God as it is already known that God Does Help.

You talk evil and call people to think over it, that's strangest of all things. God is not contesting for any presidential election that people can make Him unpopular. Even if all the creatures stop believing in Him, Truth is quite rigid and Truth is that He Is and Will Remain God.

Don't you see, when you walk in the sun, your shadow spreads on the earth to prostrate to The Almighty. Stop your shadow from doing so, then count on people.

As far as your entry is concerned, i knew your intention and in order to defeat it -as you can see- i have not deleted your entry as yet.

This poem was very moving, crying out with injustice and pain. I think that part that reaches out the most is comparing something as simple as losing glasses to something as painful as being raped. It think thats what makes the poem really cry out.
But I kind of disagree with the reason for why it was written.
I can't say for sure that there is a God that He's all powerful. But whats the point in disputing God for letting us go through the horrible things we go through? If we had perfect painless lives how could we learn and grow strong? How would society learn to come together or become stronger. We'd have a bunch of naive children running around and then the world would REALLY go to hell.
I've also been through rape. Through friends committing suicide, one not too long ago and he killed someone else in the process. I hurt everyday from my past like I suppose like most other people do. I can't say why it happens. I'm not saying go for it believe in God worship every minute of everyday. But if you can't have faith in that have faith that everything happens for a reason. I've learned and seen that it does.
Sorry to ramble. But this was a very amazing poem, very heartfelt and convincing.
    Good luck in the contest!

"if you can't have faith in that(God) have faith that everything happens for a reason."

See that's not what I believe. I think everything just happens. There is no reason, logic, fate. It's just a messed up world and bad things happen.
