I thought I’d missed my chance
To take part in your leave-taking.
You fled so quickly,
Birds and blossoms in your wake.
I resigned myself to suffer
Three long seasons
Without your icy touch,
Your bitter embrace.
And nothing to contrast
My burning blood.
But today you returned
On the backs of darkened clouds,
To plant a kiss upon my cheek
With these flecks of frozen rain
And bid me farewell,
Promising Reunion.
Until then I am consumed
With the memory of your icicle fingertips
Your frigid caress suits me far better
Than blazing sun
Or greening leaves
I shiver not
From cold alone
As your last cool breath
Plays across my neck,
And dances through my hair.

living in Minnesota, I've had my fair share of winter! When I visited Florida and the temp went down to about 50, people were pulling out sweatshirts and I was thinking, "50? That's a heat wave! Cold is like -10!"
Sorry, went off there. Great shifts of change and showing images. I loved this!
Warmest,
Mylee

For the love or winter in contrasts of seasons...
or maybe ..
for the love of an indifferent heart, even though the cold makes the fire inside burn that much hotter...
whatever the thoughts behind this write, I found it unique and beautiful.
I kept thinking while reading, that though change comes and change goes, there are some things, things that aren't withered by time and cannot be touched or tainted by anything outside the spirit that simply do not change...
My senses might become altered by change and change the way I percieve life. Time compounded upon experiences might spoil the sweetest things... but I can think of at least one thing that is simply timeless.
WOnderful write...
s and best wishes always... ~Genie~
