Bring back the night
where birch trees
look like tall, spindly ghosts
reaching to the moon;
and the wind
whispers
dark, lonely secrets
gathered from a thousand
distant hearts.
Bring back the beauty
of an inky
moonlit lake
deep with mystery
placid as a baby’s slumber.
Listen for the
crickets song
calling forth
the symphony of the dark.
Forego the day
where sun bakes
and children cry
where sweat streaks
dark, glowing skin
amidst weary, angry thoughts.
Bring back the night
pulled like a
heavy, dark blanket
over our heads.
Lover’s lie
satiated
in sweat-soaked sheets
talking ‘till dawn,
promising to never part.
Bring back the dreams,
brought on in
cool, blissful sleep
bereft of the madness
of the transient,
waking world;
and the dew
falls in silent,
tender drops
like tiny, joyous tears.

Amazing
This is a finely written piece of poetry. Amazing. What's really amazing about this is its like you pulled this imagery out of my head.

Splendid
I love this poem. It reads beautifully and touches something deep inside. The image of the night as a comforting blanket is nice.
Just to carry a theme forward, you might check out my poem that mentions birch trees. We seem to be on the same track.
