Once again I sit beside the candles glow,
drawn to the light like a moth to the flame.
Words once read contol my every breath,
as vivid memories of you remain.
Near, and yet so very far away,
I feel your presence in the flickering light.
tomorrow not yet formed ,and yesterday gone,
and all that's left, it seems can't be put right.
Worlds collide , the impact knows no bounds,
as crystalised tears lie frozen on my face.
And once more to the night I surrender my heart,
only to leave my faded dreams in place.
Inside where only emptiness abides,
as days turn into weeks the cancer grows.
A multitude of questions wondering why,
you left me here alone in winter's throe's.
Once again I sit beside the candles glow,
drawn to the light like a moth to the flame.
Words once read control my every breath,
as vivid memories of you remain.

Thank you for your entry in the contest. An excellent poem dealing with feelings and memories your emotions pour from this write. Your rhyme is very good, but your flow is a little erratic in places.
All the best to you in the contest

This is a heart wringer Mal. The repetition of the first and last stanza emphasize the effect memories can and do have on our lives. I have seen a moth trying so hard to get into the window that is shedding light from the inside, it just never gives up! That is how memories are, especially those that have had great impact on our life, they just seem to stay in a special place deep inside and come forward at any given moment. We also tend to try and analize any memories that we have not been able to comprehend in some way or another, I guess that is the human need in us all to want to feel comfortable with anything that has ever touched us emotionally in any way.
Well done my friend, your rhyming is great as always

Life can be gone from us as quickly as a breath blows out a candle. To re-light a candle and think of the one you loved and miss so much, brings back the warmth of their living soul. This is a very heartfelt poem.
