God’s dark reflection
in perfect imperfection
we suffer, sacrifice, and die
while living in hope and love.
It is this the angels envy,
for not knowing
sacrifice or love,
they wish to be like us
of clay and bone.

It's amazing, what you've done with clay and bone. I admire the earthy realism and the quick, deep portrayal of human pain.

Reminds of the movie "City of Angels"... I love where you took this prompt. Your thoughts and images are so unique and creative.
Your mind is so fascinating - I'd love to be able to get inside it and soak everything up - even if just for a day!!!
Damn, you are good!

Such a very unique piece of thought to go along with the prompt. Well penned, with such unique imagery and thought to provoke the mind. Great write!

We often forget ...
that God made us MORE than the angels, whom He created to assist us in our glorification of Him ... Our own personal protectors and messengers between God and us. And yes, romantic love is an important part of who we mortals are and it is a gift (which we often misuse) ... in comparison with the divine Love for Him that we share with all who truly recognize his Greatness and praise Him for that, including the angels.
Blessed be, Poet.

I love the direction this goes and how it doubles back on the perspective.. it reminds me of the premise behind the movie City of Angels.. yet much much deeper ..
also lets me wander through many other connections, the way many of us wish for what we do not have ..so much that we fail to recognize the things we do, and that old adage the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence..
and much more but I will refrain from getting into those as I'd write far too much here..
Wonderful take on the prompt..

interesting take on the prompt.
I like this poem, it makes one think and that to me is good when it comes to poetry.
I like the second stanza better than the first...not that the first is bad, I just think the second half is a bit stronger, and I love that ending line...
Thank you for stopping by and entering this wonderful piece for me to read.
