Old stories of old tragedies
recalling havoc on new boats
shifting restlessly in a sky
empty of wind,
full of dark emotion
she walks moonshadows on isolated beaches
looking for a husk of ship or a tale to tell
whether it is true or not
little strings of light
attach her to such things
that have sailed a thousand seas
in search of something she thought she had
a trick of the trade:
A poet etches memories
as she remembers them
even though porous bone
and truth is sandpapered authenticity
in reviving something old to something new
I am a beached rib; same shore, same moon.
