From the Abused to the Abused

Dedicated to all suffering abuse

Amidst the pain and anguish you feel,
Robbed of your innocence by those who steal..

Steal away your strength of spirit,
Because your strength is not within their remit..

I must implore you never to give up the ghost,
And to stay as strong as your utmost...

The people who abuse you are pitiful and sad,
Inadequate and feeling that you've got what they never had..

I feel your pain I've cried your tears,
I have lived with all of your same fears..

I suffered as you did for many years on end,
But my suffering elevated me closer to heaven, transcend..

They say the meek shall inherit the earth,
The abused and lowly shall have rebirth..

Stronger for their suffering and their pain,
The old cliche goes 'No pain no gain'..

Christ suffered on the cross far worse than we,
But now he is as almighty as he can be..

Stronger for having passed life's arduous test,
And forever now so heavenly blessed..

You too are blessed way beyond life's words we speak,
Your strength will endure no matter how meek..

Your abusers will suffer with consciences great,
Such is their forthcoming unwelcome fate...

They will suffer more pain in the end,
But your spirit will soar and altruism mend..

You are very special for being so strong,
Know you are not alone, but angels among..

You should never ever give up on peace,
Soon it will be yours, wrapped in Gods golden fleece..

You will make it through these times so hard,
Know I am in empathy via me the bard..

You are not lesser in value or afforded less love,
In fact you are more loved by God above.

Contest Child Abuse: What words can you give children for
hope? by paw-writer
Approximately six children are reported abused and
neglected in America every minute (more than 3 million
abuse reports a year). (National Committee for Prevention
of Child Abuse)
More than half the child victims of rape or sexual assault
are age 12 or younger. (US Dept. of Justice)
So many more children are abused everyday, and it is never
reported.
"Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime”
Herbert Ward quotes
Please write a poem addressed to an abused child. What can
you say to encourage them and give them hope? Hope that
there really are good people in the world. I want poems
that give some light at the end of the tunnel. One person
can mean the world to a hurting child when they offer hope
to them. Tell them how precious and valuable they are. They
need to hear how special they are as they do not hear it at home.
Any form is fine.

Absolutely beautiful, and there is so much wisdom in your poem here. I agree with the other comment in that I too would have been so inspired by your words here as an abused child. But you know what? I am inspired even more now as an adult because there are still days where that shadow looms near, and these words are so uplifting. Great job on this and I thanks you for entering my contest. blessings, Patty
