One by one
rivulets appeared
as life escaped
and eyes drowned
in sorrow depths
Once I smiled
then it was gone
you said something
and I became weak
but with a hunger
Soon I was next to you
at your bedside table
you looked at me confused
for there was a glint in my eye
then reality hit - this wasn't a dream.
A knife with blood
your pulse, no more;
darkness swallowed you whole.
When I woke
I became saddened,
for I thought I dreamt true -
but then you never did come down for breakfast....
and here I thought,
it was all in my head.
Well, I guess I proved you right,
didn't I mother; who never approved.
