deep velvet

Crept from shadow
into verge of light
from darkest blends at pallet end
to first step by pull of brightness;
Love was a birth among shadows.

In penumbral embrace
the child of bleaker light
shaped its mouth to howl
and called to the arch over its head
to the lightless void that stooped
to kiss its furrowed frown

though nameless, spoke of indigo
from the depths of water
where Sun has been consumed
by spirit and shade
folds that hold the scaly tooth
of cold seas

from the heights of thin air
in the edge of the bubble
where winds from dearest star
bend upon the poles

where moon makes magic with
sparkling bonds and bands
between earth and orb, bold aurora in
blood purple night, soft indigo

and true from heart of passion
to other colors of life
where nothing can pass except
by drift of sea, sky and time
and freedom became the word
whispered across an hopeful sky

fallen to flight and want within waning light
spirit pure blue within blue night,
and dark truth before sunrise,
dearest hue aglow, world of blue crowned indigo.

I love the inference to Indigo chidlren in this poem. "Love was a birth among shadows."....and somewhere in those shadows is the way to peace.... Beautiful, meaningful write.

I really like the image of penumbral embrace. Made me think of night fall. The whole poem has a kind of mystical feeling, something supernatural, mysterious.
And yes, with very good images.

This is very pretty with good detail paid to poetic device and such subtle alliteration.

Far deeper than velvet. Fantabulous, Poet Man.
