One by one, the waves float in
Exhausted from their crashing
Drifting up, then falling back
Against the sandy shore
One by one, the green leaves shake
As breezes fly through trees
The wind, though, never tires because
It has someplace to go
One by one, the grains of sand
Against my fingertips
All cascade between the gaps
And empty air between
One by one, the stars peek out
And brighten all the while
The stage is only theirs tonight
Because the moon's asleep
One by one, the breaths I take
Melt soon into the air
The smell of wood smoke calls to me
From my place upon the beach
One by one, the voices fade
As people go to bed
But though it's late, I stay awake
And watch the night emerge
One by one, I watch as all
The stars become alive
One by one, I wish on them
And hope that they'll come true
One by one, my thoughts depart
And peace surrounds my soul
And though I know you're far away
I hope you feel it too
Does it flow well? Could you feel the emotion?

you know this was great, i like this poem and the emotions that i am sure are behind it, a blend i think, i am not that good at this, but keep it flowing
