My Strength

I finally realised

that time has moved on,

yet your grace

has been the embellishment

of my journey.

Beneath your dignified exterior

lies a heart

overflowing with wisdom,

strong and bold,

yet scarred,

from so many seasons

of tears.

With pride I repose

beneath your sweeping elegance

and it is now my turn

to soothe those gnarled memories,

keeping you

from the precipice of destruction,

sharing the blessings of my journey.

You are inextricably woven

into my life's tapestry.

I much like this metaphoric work; it reminds me of visiting an old friend in need. I especially like the last two lines:
'You are inextricably woven
into my life's tapestry.'

I like how this could either be about your own inner strength or the strength you have found in another. Great honor you pay to a quality grown within, the respect for either your own strength or another's, as embellishments in ourselves, to others.
I like the dignified exterior and strong, bold yet scarred heart. The sweeping elegance of (either yourself and/or) another yet in need too. marlene
