Even though she could feel him in her sleep,
It was his love that he wanted to show.
When an angel breaks the rules, Heaven weeps.
It was not in God’s plan for her to know.

He could tell she was a sensitive soul
Because she was a lamb among the sheep.
He kept watch over her with eyes of coal
Even though she could feel him in her sleep.

He was mesmerized by her shining light
So, with each fleeting day his love did grow.
Thus, worried that he might give her a fright,
It was his love that he wanted to show.

He gave blood for just a moment with her,
As innocent as a chick when it peeps,
As surely as autumn makes leaves wither,
When an angel breaks the rules, Heaven weeps.

Because mankind was given finite time
It’s more precious than anything we sow,
Mysteries that make life simply sublime.
It was not in God’s plan for her to know.
