The young one's stomach expanded like a balloon,
but this one was not meant for play.
Their ribs showing through their charcoal skin.
Their tired legs have nothing to support them with anymore.
They venture slowly into a small one-roomed home,
They despair as what they see.
Nothing,
not a bed,
or a kitchen filled with anything,
a bed,
or even a door.
Empty like their stomach and their hearts.
They remember briefly that their mama isn't coming back.
She can't come back.
The disease took her.
They have no tears left as they absently scratch a mosquito bite,
not knowing that innocent little bite will kill them.
Instead thinking,
why this had to happen to them,
in a world full of plenty.
Author notes

Awww, this is so sad. It's really good, though. It makes you think.
