these hands

hands.
hands so strong they can kill a man.

but no.  not these hands.
these hands are gentle in their strength.
they hold their children,
love their wives,

follow God.

Dear ocerus, I eat chicken, just thought I'd reassure you of that before speaking on your poem.

I like this poem. Little bit worried about how many wives you have. But aprt from that, lovely.

I also like chickens running round...

Great job on this one!  The contrast of what hands(a man) is capable of and where his conscience takes him instead.  The last line....truly moved me.

That's in a nutshell. We decide what we will use our powers for, and that determines our destiny. And gentleness is always more profound from someone with great strength. And I'm sure the chickens appreciate your kindness when you could so easily ring their necks.

I was actually attacked by a chicken before. I jumped up and kicked the bugger as far as I could. My brother - who was the owner of the chickens - asked me, of course, "What are you Doing?!" And of course I yelled, "He started it!!" Thanks for the compliment Mark. But why is it that most of your powerful people seem to feel the need to prove their strength? Don't know enough about who and what they are, the true strength they have, huh? Lots of wars have started that way. *sigh* Glad you liked it. - The ocer
