captured memories
last from your past
till my present
and again
I see your face
just like yesterday
a touch away
it is you before my eyelashes
stonewashed on an old photograph
Author notes
Another poem to my dearest friend Solange, inspired by real memories and the wonderful poem written by Peteskid called Sepia brown.
Thanks PK,
Mari

Hoodwink!!
This is so beautiful, why don't more people think about the memories people leave with us. A beautiful dedication indeed.

-
There's so much nostalgia inside the lines here...
I absolutely love this one!
shoving to preliminary list!
and thank you for entering!

I forgot I have this poem in your contest, was wondering what you were talking about with preliminary list

A great sense of feeling in this poem, both of being in the present looking at a picture and also of being miles and years away, captured beautifully in the lines,
"last from your past
till my present"
and the lines.
"just like yesterday
a touch away"
hit with that double temporal relevance, both here and there, now and then.
Thanks for the read mari!

*sigh* this made me miss my husband, Thank God for the internet!

And even as the physical photograph fades
The mental photograph will continue to live on...
past knits to present
youth recaptured once again
in instant...recall

another masterpiece in the album named Mari's Gems

-
This reminds me of the Jim Croce song "Photographs and Memories". When all we have in hand are pictures of how our love began. Best wishes in the contest.
Sincerely,

Beautiful, full of warmth like the color... "it is you before my eyelashes" is lovely.

This is beautiful, Mari...the last line stays with the reader. Such a lovely nostalgic feel about this one.... a memory in sepia.

Captured as softly and gently
as the treasured, faded photograph.
And good reason for PK not to choose
the bright colors in the graphic,
but to write on about "Sepia Brown."

I think we might all find a moment of happiness in the thought that we would be remembered this way... as this heart spoken verse for Solange...memories like a golden Sepia photograph ...your enduring friendship and love...h

There is something about your pen that keeps me searching. Not for more, your writing has it all. I seek the wisdom to double guess your next move, and always return empty; to wait for more. Thank you.

This is so gorgeous!
The imagery seen and the emotion felt when reading this is so amazing!
I love every line...
Sigh~
You chose a poem by a poet who always makes me sigh as well..
I want to take this time to say thank you for being one of my favorites and inspiring me with beautiful poetry and kind words. Ty for honoring me by entering this contest!

Didn't I already read Sepia Brown? I'll see. Sure I did. I owe PK a visit anyway.
Sorry about Solange. About the saddest story you ever told me was the one about Solange. It stays in my memory and you know how forgetful that usually is.
I hate memories...if there was this drug to erase it, I'd go buy it now.
Smile, I have some really pathetic "shocking shorts" if you want to read them.
