“I felt nothing. I was fixed, like a negative in a chemical bath.”
--Graham Greene

*

i lost faith—
gained faith,
cursed, praised, begged,
hated
loved
God.

i remember the snow
mocking me with sparkling facets
dancing in the january sun
bare, uninhibited

while i sat
in a straitjacket of tears.

hours passed,
the clock sang a mourning song
with a violent pendulum metronome

it felt like good friday
—and the apocalypse.

denial, wrath,
rage,
loss of all
hope
purpose

—plunged unceremoniously
into incapability,

i may as well have
jumped into the icy river

and like clockwork,
let my skin match my brain/
heart/
soul—

frozen.

"Rip it"... lol. I love that.

Well, there's nothing to rip apart here. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect.

I love the quote you chose as inspiration (obviously, one of my favorites), I love what you did with it, and how you incorporated "violent pendulum" into it with another favorite word that I forgot about: "metronome".

    Amazingly well written.

    I am very impressed.

I love how you catch that "irritable" factor of depression that is so often overlooked. You're not just sitting there, thinking nothing - you're restless, noticing all the little tiny details that make you that much more miserable but you're too frozen to move... it's perfect. You had to have been there yourself to describe it like this.

I am adding you to my favorites and begging you not to apologize for your inner-darkness anymore. That is your gift. I wish you happiness, yes, but never be afraid to express that darker side - that is what makes you so mysterious, beautiful, intriguing, and original.
