“how about not equating death with stopping”
--alanis morisette, thank you
*
sleep,
now that you can, love,
sleep for eternity—
and when it is time,
i will wake you.
we always held each other
like hand-blown glass
in cosmic transmissions;
i cannot lie about my frailty.
i shattered upon your ascent.
—but after the oceans of tears
and the freedom and trappings
of cloud-blankets and angel wings, of
you seeing through my eyes,
of taking the pain and realizing
we are sacred and divine—
the shattered pieces are mended.
and after the end,
i will go home to you,
into the known.
Author notes
Really, I don't know if I'll ever fully mend.

colorful imagery
such colorful imagery....just like alanis, you have a wonderful play of words and colorful imagery...i really love it when poems or lyrics to songs have words or phrases that you don't hear everyday...i like to see/hear different words, imagine different pictures, and you did a great job on writing in the unique way that alanis does...good luck in the contest!

i absolutely love this song.. Good choice. Beautiful imagery in this poem. I'm sorry about your loss of love but in life we lose the things that are most important to us and one day you will regain what you lost in other ways. Good luck with healing and truly beautiful write..
