It scratched my arms
and legs
but the wind felt so good
on my face.
And I saw the world there.
Looking off into space
into the heart of the human race,
I saw it, did you?
And then I saw you.
you were there the whole time,
and that was best of all.
You held my scratched arms,
convinced me you'd catch me
if I fell.
I doubted,
you knew.
And conversation passed
that was more frightening
than falling,
took more courage than
jumping would have.
At the edge of everything,
you were there, and so was I
with the wind in our hair
and the sun falling from the sky,
and that was just how it should have been.
