Seatbelt

Seatbelts save lives so you better buckle up.
So, you must be a seat belt or I've got some good luck.
Barely anybody wears them these days and so all these fatal accidents occur
Yet, I was the one person who buckled up just to make sure.
And it's funny and ironic in this weird sort of way
And probably weird if you want to hear what I have to say
That you were the seatbelt that saved me
Keeping me right where I ought to be

I didn't fly through a window or break any bones,
I didn't run over a crash dumb or back into a cone,
I didn't hit a semi-truck full of lumber
I didn't get struck by lightning (or thunder)
I didn't hit a loaded car of six
Or break something that I couldn't fix

You were my seatbelt with true definition
So, I will define in these words, which will give you recognition
To be the honoree I've described you to be
Saving the poor little old life of me

A seatbelt is more than just to keep you from flying into a tree
It's more of a saving device for you and me
When you drive your car fast; faster than it should go
That's when these devices come to show
How handy they are when they save you in the end
And wearing a seatbelt was a rule I didn't bend
They stop your organs from flying out
And it's scientifically proven without a doubt
They stop your liver, your kidneys, and your heart
Aren't you glad you put your seatbelt on from the start

So, maybe you're thinking "what is she trying to say?"
Well, listen to me, interesting as this is, to your dismay
You were my seatbelt afterall
You're the one who stopped me from hitting that wall
From dying because I was going to fast
Because I believe nothing would last
When I hit the end and I thought my heart would shoot straight from my chest
You held on tight and wished for the best
You so literally saved me from death
And to that I owe you the biggest debt

So maybe now you understand how I've felt,
About you saving my life...and being my seatbelt.

Your Thoughts Please :]
