Give It Up

I’ve heard it preached all my life
That God gives only what you can bear.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t ask for help;
Relying on strong shoulders so squared.

A good friend we all should be
Its okay you to ask for one too
We may be weak if all on our own,
And yes, that means even you.

So depend on God for courage and strength;
He will answer your prayer every time.
He may answer in the form of a friend;
But God is the best friend you’ll find.

He has the strongest shoulders of all!

    I couldn't agree more. God never gives us more than we can handle, but sometimes you just gotta call on God for help. And its in those moments that he draws us close and we grow and become even stronger. Beautiful poem! Thanks for sharing! -Liz

    You are right. God gives you only what you can bear.. there is no shame in asking for help. No one can really move past pain on their own. Whether you confide in God, a friend, a counsler... we all need someone to help us whenwe are too weak or tired to live a burden on our own.

    This concept reminds me of a poem called "footprints". I think that is what it is called anyway.

    I love this topic and think you did a fine job!

    Thank you very much my friend. This is something I struggle with often. Giving things up to God or calling upon the help of a friend. I try to give God control, and in the end, I try to fight back for it. But He won't give it back.

    But that's okay. Often I realize quickly that I don't want it back. Life is too much to try and control everything.
