Too Strong To Cry

I love the sound of rain,
when i lie in bed at night,
like the softly spoken whisper
reassuring through the night,
I've always been broken, but i'm still too strong to cry.

Then like the mother that i never had
saying everything's all right
the wind will whistle through the trees,
and sing me off to sleep.
I've always been broken, but i'm still too strong to cry.

I'll fade off in to fitful dreams,
while lightning flashes in the sky,
silencing my screams
keeping safe a small child
I've always been broken, but i'm still too strong to cry.

And the storm outside sings to me,
each night as i cry,
"hush now fallen angel,
destined not to fly,
you're broken and crazy,
but still too strong to cry."

Author notes

i am the fallen angel,
destined never to fly,
i may be broken and crazy,
but i'm still too srtong to cry.

life breaks us all, maybe it doesn't break us all compleetely, but some of us it does, afterwards, you have two options: (1)give up, and give in, cry, and do nothing, OR (2)fight it, stay strong, i'm not giving in. i wont let this life break me anymore than it has. I WON'T CRY ANYMORE.

honest oppinions please and thank you.

More like a song lyric, however very well and very deftly done poem, and I like it a great deal!! (crying is great over rated, either doing it, trying not to do it... cry if you must, or don't if you feel you must not...)

Doesn't it take strength to cry, I don't get it. Great job though, I'm sooo impressed. You're only 14. Dang girl.

Do you really love the sound of rain at night ? Wow....it is so appealing, so entrancing, isn't it ? I like your poem that spoke so powerfully to me of inner pain that can't vanquish you but still withers you. Listen young lady, you will never be broken....you are a fortress, I can tell. Love your poem that "whispers" to me. Be safe. Tony x

This is a very beautiful poem with a very strong message. I can really relate to the second stanza, having lost my mother to cancer when I was nine.

"And the storm outside sings to me,
    each night as i cry,
    'hush now fallen angel,
    destined not to fly,
    you're broken and crazy,
but still too strong to cry.' "

definitely my favorite stanza, and in my opinion, probably the most powerful. I'm so glad I decided to click on this wonderful poem!!

Hello, I'm so glad that I stumbled upon your poem-it's really good, and u might be "broken and crazy,
but still too strong to cry", but I'm not- I just wanted to cry when I read your poem. And I mean that as a good thing
Well done! This is truly an excellent read, and I feel all the emotions you've purged out in this poem...as if they're mine. Yep. Perhaps you'd like to come by and read my poetry too?
Anyways, all the best to you and thanks for dishing out that sensible piece of advice in your notes!
