Moistened Clarity

Caked chocolate earth
velvet moist with hemoglobic
iron in oxidizing rain.
Sponged steps from sweat
and effort dripped heat.

Pouring from rich open sky
to ground in swept cirrus ice.
The pommel horse drop
stunned in breathless hues
of shock absorption-
in pores of giving the best
and all of one's self.

To stave off the nightmares
purging enemies from within;
pounding from chest the
relentless dreams of missions
of neutral alignment.

Bare fisted,
barefoot and hand-to-hand
spiritual soldier;
started in basics
before the gymnast's
flying squirrel landing.

Protection of peace
starts with the knowing-
the encompassing life energy
tainted, stained,
in sustaining giver's
frosting in crimson pool.

Worthwhile in selfless acts...
Clear in soul and purpose...

    Hood-Winked!

    The opening stanza of this poem was just breathtaking! I really liked the power of the wording and the flow and the way that it just made my eyes stick to the screen the rest of the poem did not let me down either - wonderfully done and a well deserved silver medal!

    Keep writing

    Purpose of life and spirit...
    we are reminded here how said purpose
    is our life's blood. Excellent metaphor
    using texture and my favorite~colour. Blue
