When You should come to me in Sacred Thought

Body's outcry to Soul

When you –

a single memory
materialized by light in flight,
and seen as flash point brilliance, brought
about by sole beauty of God's holy, expectant being –

should come to me in sacred thought,

would I then grasp the gut of good,
the cut of sad ...
and would we – you, God's pure,
and I, so insecure, wrought
painfully from ancient death and newborn life,
of angel's love and rebel's blood –
be gifted with a moment pure ...

to share?

Would you then soften blows severe,
of madness, blame ...
and would we -- you, God's flame,
and I, lost shimmer, sought
in crust, and born from dust
and spit and falling star --

be merged in meaning sure; be curved
in endless heart and singing shard?

Would we then be his Counterpart?

.
AFRIKAANS TRANSLATION

Wanneer jy na my sou kom in Heilige Gedagte

Vlees kreet tot Siel

Wanneer jy –

‘n enkele herinnerflits,
sigbaar in lig so vlug,
speerpuntblink gerig
deur pure skoonheid van Gods verhewe verwagting –

na my sou kom in heilige gedagte,

sal ek dan kan begryp die grein van goed,
die sny van smart …
en sal ons – jy, Gods suiwerheid;
ek, so onseker, pynlik gewroeg
van oeroue dood en nuwe lewe, gegord
van engele-liefde en rebelse bloed –
‘n oomblik oneindig rein verskenk word,

om te deel?

Sal jy dan g้sel-slae afweer
van waansin, blaam …
en sal ons – jy, Gods vlam,
en ek, verlore glans, gesoek
in kors, gevorm van stof en spoeg
en vallende ster –

gesmee word in betekenis so eg, gekerf
tot eindelose hart en singende skerf?

Sal ons dan word sy Mededeel?

Author notes

To the holy Idea of God, both soul and body were pure ... Now life is an outcry to the sacred state of the Beginning ... and an outreach to Paradise Regained. I am convinced with all of me that Heaven starts on earth, should body merge with soul in holy intent and enlightenment, towards purposeful fruition. For very few the holy matrimony really rings true: when the pure of soul AND body meet the pure of soul AND body ... to form a close marriage with spouse and God. A divine possibility NOT so impossible, for those who truly surrender to Love's divine choice.

This is fluid, full of spiritual meaning, and uses many wonderful poetic devices throughout. Bravo!

We like to honor poems we find that did not win the contests they were in, but strike us as fantastic. This is one of those poems. You will receive an award for 300 points as well.

I was not the only judge for my contest and this poem deserves special recognition. The least I can do is put an Amera gold on it.

I just knew that you would blow my mind with a fantastic poem in our contest. You have opened my heart and sprinkled truth and wisdom on it like a carefully measured recipe. I am in total awe when I read the amazing statement of faith that you have woven into this masterpiece. I feel so honored that you would enter our contest. It’s like inviting the Queen of England to my bachelorette party and she came. Thank you!

    Love,
    Amera♥

Thank you Amera ... for your kind words. It made me smile.

I decided to change the title and to make the original title a subtitle, to stress the beauty of the being of God as sacred thought, in the title, which is actually the "first line" or "introduction" to any poem ... I also translated this poem in Afrikaans, for it is very, very sacred to me and part of my very being ...

You have taken my favorite subjects, intimacy and spirituality, and written a tour de force that fills my heart and boggles my mind! Being only a closet Christian I cannot comment on its religious truth, but as a philosopher and student of love I cannot think of anything I agree with more whoeheartedly than your sentiments here. This is an extremely ambitious write that delivers admirably. It is moving, inspiring, educational, enlightening, and I should just get a list of superlatives and cut and paste them. Thank you for this most worthy entry in our contest.

Had I not experienced myself I would not have believed you. That sacred bond between man and woman can be simply divine or as hellish as two mortals can make it. The choice is up to them. Best of luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

What beauty has not been penned!

I never cease to stand back and enjoy what you write. I know you personally and for that matter a long-long time. It is moments such as these that I again ‘read’ your character and ‘hear’ your thoughts. One plus one makes three – that is how it should be; that is the essence of the dynamics of ‘being in’ counterpart. Of course, the other way around is also true: three in one – this makes whole, but greater than that – holy. You have used words such as: ‘single memory’, ‘light in flash’; ‘lost shimmer’; and ‘singing shard’ to mention but a few that signifies [to me] the meaning of ‘counterpart’: the small bits and pieces – fragmented to be pieced together as a whole – constructed [God], deconstructed [life] and once again constructed [togetherness in ‘Counterpart’] – the choice is ours! Brilliant to say the least. Frans

Love is certainly the most spiritual thing we experience. It is god if anything is. It isn't always beautiful, and when poisoned there certainly is a personal hell to deal with.
Your lover doesn't have to be perfect though, only your love. It's really got more to do with you than them.
I was told by a gay and sometimes annoying older friend of mine when I lost a girlfriend, that I owned that love I had for her. That was something of myself. And though I don't completely understand, I think it's true. That's why he was annoying. He didn't care so much about what I wanted to hear. He told me the naked truth.

You ever in beauty say what is truth

What Milton would have said had he known love.

    Paradise gained

this came to you through divine revelation, a truth that only God could have revealed to you.
I felt my own spirit witness this truth as I read.
I admire and love you for your beauty- as it is a spiritual beauty that comes from a oneness with God.
I gave you 7 roses because 7 is His perfect number.

thanks for the AN as well as the poetry...
what a lovely way to describe the possibility of a triade becoming one (not such a hard concept for those who understand God's nature)

"should come to me in sacred thought" WOW
"Would we then be his Counterpart?" nice way to end with this question...

    Blessings to you today!
