Mind and Heart

A conflict is commencing
between my logic and my soul.
Each struggling and competing
for complete and full control.

My mind tells me "this can't be real".
My heart pleads "it has to be".
You've unlocked some foreign feelings
to which you only held the key.

Your voice, your words invade my being
but you're not here to touch.
I wonder with a constant fear
how I need you so much.

"Back off, you fool" my brain cries out.
"You're going to get burned!"
But you whisper to me of a love
I know I haven't earned.

So I wrap my heart around you
and I'm clinging desperately.
For a mind can never come between
what's become of you and me.

    This write can be taken in many directions according to what the reader perceives. Yet the spiritual meaning still clings ever so subletly in the background. Well Done.

    We all have a battle between the heart and mind it is sometimes hard to pick between the two when we have much to consider it is a never ending battle at times thanks for sharing

    This is very well written, and oh so true too. Our minds are always in conflict with our souls. Our soul is the essence of who we are, and our minds are the instrument of the soul. But when the mind doesn't listen to the soul, then we get burned. People tell us things,and we think with our minds, while our souls are telling us that we are making a terrible mistake.

    When our soul tells the mind, and the mind doesn't listen, we are in for a very bumpy ride down heartbreak road.

    This was written with emotion and feeling. Thank you for sharing.
