CNN evening broadcast:
bloodied Tibetan monks in the streets of Llasa protesting Chinese tyranny
brutally beaten by packs of soldiers
kicks
punches
flailing riot sticks
video cameras on rooftops recording their cruelty
voice over of an anonymous translator in awkward english
anxiously mouthing words of a peace activist advocating non violence
Buddhist strategy against oppression
visual clip of his facial gestures
out of sync with the audio
Dalai Lama in an ochre robe lamenting a dying nation
cyberspace ablaze with strangers blogging the events in real time
laptops
pda's
blackberry's
podcasts
cell phones
virtual/real kaleidoscopic desperation
truth gasping for air
across the TV screen
mercedes benz commercial
smiling digital faces enjoying a carefree suburban ride
through palm lined California boulevards
extreme polarities
reflected in overwhelmed frantic consumers clicking remotes
anxiously switching channels for escape
minds overheated
hearts stressed
Please tell me what you think

splinters of battered sphincters
overwhelmed and buried heads
bothersome car ads squeel in delight
as the world order repositions
a broken ant farm where
it doesnt matter as long
as its "outside"

Outstanding
Wow! You have a real way with words. This was so contemporary with so many images that are part of everyday life. Maybe we should write like this more as this is a reflection on 2008 in all its rawness. People today are too stressed and you're right they are just looking to escape. i read an article in the paper today about the situation in China it is very sad. Some human- rights activators got arrested. I liked this poem a lot it is full of intensity and an accurate reflection of our lives. Keeep writing.

Boffo!
Get breathless reading this ... momentum keeps building ... and it's so audible ... can hear your voice and then I hear another voice reading it, a woman's voice, she has an English accent but it's not the Queen ... good stuff, bro'.
