Flowing tears whisper songs of the dead
As children lay to sleep
Ash settling upon their innocent faces
Whilst we review our hatred
None of us can remember the last time
We looked into the mirror happily
Not loathing those who stared back
Piercing catastrophes ripping us forward
As the children slowly fade
Their smiles and eyes become dull
As those of us with wisdom slowly screech
Writhing in the tomb of society
And calling out for the grasp of insanity
A false hope in our minds
That we'll one day understand
Why we've turned this way
Yet I understand that knowledge
Will never be ours
So little sister, please do sleep
The rest of the children are
For centuries until the world is beautiful
We shall not disturb your slumber
I'll hold you close and tight
People will smile in the street
And insanity will not be our aspiration
Clear water shall rush over your head
Whilst clear skies find your smile
So slumber my dear sister
Fear not the world for I have your place marked
I may fade with time
But never will you be forgotten
As children lay to sleep
Ash settling upon their innocent faces
Whilst we review our hatred
None of us can remember the last time
We looked into the mirror happily
Not loathing those who stared back
Piercing catastrophes ripping us forward
As the children slowly fade
Their smiles and eyes become dull
As those of us with wisdom slowly screech
Writhing in the tomb of society
And calling out for the grasp of insanity
A false hope in our minds
That we'll one day understand
Why we've turned this way
Yet I understand that knowledge
Will never be ours
So little sister, please do sleep
The rest of the children are
For centuries until the world is beautiful
We shall not disturb your slumber
I'll hold you close and tight
People will smile in the street
And insanity will not be our aspiration
Clear water shall rush over your head
Whilst clear skies find your smile

I tried to take it from the view point that the world was corrupt and slowly children were dying, being neglected or something along those lines. Through this I feel the older sister is saying save yourself by going to sleep.
Not sure really =D everyone has their own interpretation.

I agree with whisper.. this is a poignant write!
I think having every first word in the lines capitalized does interrupt the flow a bit, so perhaps only have a capital where a new sentence begins (I know it's a pain because the computer does it automatically.. but it does allow for a smoother read if you manually change it)
