Leaf cut-outs of Light and shadow
Played across your face in those silent moments
Dare I say that the tears in your eyes
Never Looked so beautiful - or so sincere
Your hair frames your face in askew curly-Qs
As your olive skin nestles between my fingers
And we listen to the harmonizing hum of our hearts stirring
That's where we laid smiling at each other
Sprinting past Manhattan and Wall Street
Like we knew the secret that no one else could hold
The secrets that laid between you and I
Like the skin stretched across our brittle bones
No one would have known from the cracks in the sidewalk
Or the exact orange of this sunset
That it may have been bigger than both of us
These are the streets we used to prowl
When you were a boy, with a guitar on your back
And I was a girl, with a chip on her shoulder
Pretending the only home I ever had
Was the one I found in your arms
With your taste still on my lips
And your song ligering in my ears
There was never anything to be afraid of anymore
Those were the days of summer
Of Love
Of Light
Of Freedom under our wings

Brilliant!!
This is absolutely incredible. I don't even like the summer, but you made me long for moments like this in your poem!!! That is really good writing. It's funny because I just wrote one on how much I love the fall and winter...lol...this one, though is emotional and makes me hope that these are your "true" memories because they are beautiful. It sounds like a very romantic movie about two people who have loved for many, many wonderful years...excellent write.
