The choice you make when you don't have a choice.
How you prove your freedom with a chain on your neck.
The thought of others unbeknowingly loosing and gaining nothing.
Knowing you loose to gain.
Devoting all to prove a dying belief.
Sacrificing for those who are less deserving.
Sacrificing for those who deserve nothing but this gift.
Preserving this gift with all you have.
Protecting this gift with all you have.
And more.
Looking out to a green scene of nature and actually seeing.
Touching cool crisp blue water and actually feeling.
Breathing in fresh air and actually tasting.
Listening to everyday noises and actually listening.
The choice to choose life.
The choice to live your life.
The choice to stand up and protect life.
The choice to love life.
Life.
That is beautiful.
"Your life is yours alone. Rise up and live it."
Author notes
May change the title. Couldn't really think of a good title. The quote and inspiration is from Richard Rahl from the Sword of Truth Series.

I love this! Your talk about loosing, gaining, sacrificing, etc give it a kind of religious theme, and the structure and repetition make it sound like some epic speech or mantra... I also love that it's ambiguous enough to have multiple meanings. It could be life in a personal hey you're alive sense, could be a baby, and my roommate even thought this was about virginity with your talk about protecting the gift and sacrificing for people who deserve it... all in all an excellent poem. best of luck to you in the contest! --Shannon

i love using slightly changed repetition to prove points. it's one of my favorite tools, and i love your use of it here.
