Black coffee
swirling in my cup.
Alone,
blankets pulled tight,
hands wrapped,
seeking warmth.
This bitter brew,
rapidly becoming cold,
poor substitute
for rich indulgence,
sweet honey and cream.

This reminds me of a cold winter morning, when I don't want to get out of bed and would rather stay under the covers and keep warm--thank you for writing this for the contest.

Well done Michele! You've captured the feeling and emotions of this in a succinct but beautiful write...
