I crawled into my broken heart
and set a “love alarm.”
I would never place myself
again in the way of harm.
Sitting in the darkness,
the world I could ignore,
unaware that loneliness
would provide a door.
Somehow in my hiding place
you discovered me
and opened the door wide enough
to show me true beauty.
Your gentle words of caring
drew a portrait of the world
which held all my unspoken dreams
that around me swirled.
Your loving spirit led me
to a place where I could stand
and find the strength to love again
… strength from your gentle hands.

this is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. afraid of letting someone loving us after we've been hurt, something I can relate to all so well. its better to take the chance, than not take it and then regret it the rest of our lives.
Fantastic job with the prompt & with your poem.
good luck my lover in the contest

Beautiful

How many of us feel this way, the fear of opening our hearts once more.
Taking that chance to be loved again, and to love that special one .
Love each stanza
Best wishes
