The wind sighs through my plumage,
I can almost feel each feather,
as I soar through a dream-like mist
far above the weather.
I point my spirit skyward
and as I top the clouds,
the sun bursts forth in brilliance
while the earth remains in shrouds.
Back toward the ground I plummet,
gravity is now my friend
as I spiral around the ghostly shapes
and pray my journey never ends.
Building speed, I taste the wind
and join in freedom’s song.
I sail and soar in the mirthful blue.
I am where I belong.
I wake up to the radio,
“news and weather at seven”
but my soul remains soaring,
exploring the halls of heaven.
