You have to know where you would go
Before it's time to leave
When you can show you need it so
You may start to believe
But leaving home to love or roam
Is not a simple thing
With dreams to comb across the foam
There's things you have to bring
You never part without your heart
And that can tie you down
To just depart is but a start
The rest can make you frown
When you arrive your soul's alive
The world can feel brand new
But things may dive if you don't strive
To be a whole new you
You can't change race and keep your face
Just leave the past behind
It's not just pace and actual place
Your home is in your mind!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Not bad.
(Can you take a couple of days off? You're writing them faster than I can read them.)

This flows very pleasantly and perhaps you are correct in that your mind can take you anywhere even if your body cannot be there. Nicely done. love, C

And it applies the other way around to, even if you move physically you are still at home until your heart moves too. How many expats do you know who still talk about "home" after 50 years?

Oh, man.
Boffo just isn't hardly doing it.
This piece is amazing, Jeff.
If felt like you were juggling a few balls and then, in one line right at the end, you catch them all in one hand.
Good luck in the contest.
