I am walking through my mind,
and trying to pick the fruit
Of the never ending memories,
always leading back to you
Never is the end in sight,
never conscious of the time
Always going round and round,
with you always on my mind
Waiting till the edge of dawn,
out there trying to catch a glimpse
I know you're there; just out of sight,
and I don’t know why that is
I can smell your every thought
and I can almost taste you lips
But it’s the beating of your heart
I’m most certain I will miss
You may just be two foot away
it might as well be twenty miles
With this thick fog inside my head
it just won’t be clear for a while
Reaching out to touch your soul
with all the fingers of my heart
Never settling for less than all
that’s what I wanted from the start
Now I see things even clearer
than I had since yesterday
I know I have not been truthful
I know you’re gone to stay
It was nothing that I said
and it was nothing that I did
We know this is going to happen
we are taught that as a kid
I know that you’re gone forever
and there is nothing I can do
I’ll have to settle for the fruit
filled with memories of you
